Jeff Monson - Executive Director
Jeff Monson is currently the Executive Director of Commute Options for Central Oregon , coordinating a three county effort to reduce reliance on the automobile. The agency's focus is Transportation Demand Management planning, corporate outreach, fund raising, promotions and trails, bicycle, pedestrian, rideshare, and transit planning. 

Prior to moving to Bend , Jeff was the Pedestrian/Bicycle Program Coordinator for the Orlando Area Metropolitan Planning Organization.  Here he coordinated 24 government agencies and was responsible for alternative transportation planning, coordinating ISTEA funding, design review and traffic safety campaigns

Jeff has participated in extensive seminar study with Dan Burden , Michael Ronkin , and Michael Kodama :  bicycle and pedestrian facility design and safety, roundabouts, intersection design, parking management.  He has also taken courses from Michael Walwork , one of Australia 's roundabout design engineers.

Jeff has taught bicycle safety courses in schools and reviewed bicycle parking issues with businesses.  He has reviewed site plans in Lake County , Florida and Bend , Oregon .  Events organized by Jeff include Commute Options Week (5 years), Mt Dora Bicycle Festival, Sanford Road Race, and assisted with the Sanford Golden Age Games (Olympics).

Prior to transportation planning, Jeff was a Parks and Recreation administrator in Central Florida for 12 years.  He directed all athletic leagues, special events, three community centers and managed departmental budgets.

Jeff is an adventure travel organizer, leading groups to New Zealand , Peru , Norway , Mexico and Guatemala . He has also traveled long term, independently in Australia , New Zealand , Papua New Guinea , Mexico , North, Central and South America .  Jeff moved to Bend in 1995 following eight months traveling in South America .  His daughter Piper was born in 1998 and participates with her Dad in all the central Oregon outdoor adventures.

Jeff has also worked in outdoor retail sales in Florida and Oregon .

Jeff 's degree is in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from the University of Maine .
