The State of Micromobility: Unpacking a Year of Disruption and Planning for What’s Next:

Even before the world hit “pause” in response to COVID, public sector approaches to planning and managing bike and scooter share programs were evolving. Since spring 2020, the service provider industry has undergone seismic shifts – including the exit of Zagster from several Oregon communities.  Join Alta Planning + Design for a presentation and group discussion on the evolution of micromobility and its place within our transportation systems, including case studies of programs in small communities and the relationship of bike and scooter share to transit. Jean Crowther, AICP leads Alta’s national New Mobility Service Area, working at the intersection of transportation and technology and building on ten years as a bike share planning specialist. Mike Sellinger leads Alta’s micromobility planning practice, with expertise in data analysis and program evaluation. The two have worked on transportation planning projects throughout Oregon, including Portland’s Bike Town program, and have designed and assisted in implementation of dozens of micromobility programs across the U.S – from Los Angeles, CA to Cedar Rapids IA, from Tulsa OK to Memphis TN.  (1-hour session)
