We want to know how we can help! We are busy planning for the 2020-2021 school year. The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program is pivoting alongside school administrators to offer lesson plans to teachers across Central Oregon. We have created a menu of options for our program schools and want to extend our resources to our fellow Safe Routes to School practitioners.
Our SRTS Coordinator is meeting with school administrators to find the optimal methods of releasing the curriculum beginning in October, 2020.
The updated curriculum is in compliance with State Covid-19 regulations and supports Physical Education standards from the Oregon Department of Education.
Here is a preview of our SRTS menu to help you develop ideas to offer your program schools.
Walk and Roll E-Toolkit – Special 2.0 version coming soon – Version 1.0 can be found on Oregonsaferoutes.org – A guiding document for educators to use on virtual platforms to engage, encourage, and educate students through Safe Routes to School programming. Clear, simple, bite size lessons, easy to complete independently, and relatable to students’ real-world experiences.
Train the Trainer – SRTS Coordinator offers professional development “train the trainer” instruction for PE teachers, health teachers, and other interested partners to incorporate SRTS activities into online learning. Format: webinar or printed training packet.
School Safety Webinars – A FUN walk and roll safety overview presented during an assembly. This introduces the main components of the SRTS safety education program.
Hybrid – Customize program based on discussion of needs. What can we do to help?
Encouragement Events – May Walk and Roll Virtual Challenge – throughout the month students track every time they walk or roll, with our online or printed tracker form. Earn prizes.
Share with us how we can help your Safe Routes to School team during these challenging times.
