The 2026 Summer Commute Challenge wrapped up at the end of September, marking the end of a fun filled season of partnership with the Old Mill District and Hayden Homes Amphitheater!
Throughout the challenge, 182 participants logged a total of 1,306 trips to and from Hayden Homes Amphitheater and the Old Mill District. 73% of participants were new Get There users, helping grow our local community of sustainable commuters!
Participants chose a variety of transportation options throughout the summer. Here’s the breakdown by travel mode:
43% – Bike
26% – E-bike
18% – Carpool
13% – Walking
- 1% – Transit
We had many prizes to keep the excitement going, each month we randomly selected winners to receive concert tickets, movie tickets, and Hydro Flask bottles.
To wrap up the challenge, we awarded one lucky grand prize winner a $250 prize package featuring Hayden Homes Amphitheater and Old Mill District swag, along with a gift card redeemable at businesses throughout the Old Mill District.
Congratulations to our grand prize winner, Kris Allen Blea! Here’s what Kris had to say about participating in the challenge:
“Thank you so much for the amazing prize! I have entered some of the previous Challenges and find it fun to keep track of my miles and what emissions or carbon I save by walking, riding or using the bus. It’s also fun entering contests because sometimes you win! I don’t live far from the Hayden Homes Amphitheater where I have worked the past 4 Summers. I walked the first couple of weeks of the Challenge because my 1960’s-70’s Schwinn was having some much needed attention from Second Wind Sports, who did a fantastic job. Getting started commuting by bike seems scary but after you find your rhythm and routine it is something to look forward to!”
A huge thank-you to the Old Mill District team for partnering with us to make sustainable transportation more accessible and exciting this summer. And thanks to everyone who participated, logged trips, and explored new ways to get around!
