Lara McCormick, our Safe Routes to School Coordinator based in the Rogue Valley, has been hard at work in Southern Oregon, taking the lead on developing and expanding the Safe Routes to School network in the region. In addition to her Safe Routes to School work, Lara has made progress in expanding the reach of in-person Oregon Friendly Driver presentations throughout the Rogue Valley area.
Lara has led the Safe Routes to School program in Southern Oregon, delivering Safe Routes education to 17 schools, along with hosting 13 Walk & Roll events in Medford, Phoenix, Talent, and Central Point. She has been working hard to strengthen Safe Routes connections across the region, with the goal of improving safety, access, and awareness of walking and biking opportunities for students and families.
Additionally, Oregon Friendly Driver has progressed in Southern Oregon. Lara has delivered six in-person Oregon Friendly Driver educational courses, reaching participants from Seniors to Safety professionals. These in person training sessions focus on safe driving practices around vulnerable roadway users and are designed for a wide range of audiences, including bus drivers, driver education classes, community groups, and more.
